Kneeling Stool in Action

About the Stool

The Kneeling Stool is the result of a leap forward in ergonomic design, created by José Benedicto Valenzuela Leguía, Master Craftsman from Stockholm, Sweden, who has been a disciplined meditator for decades.

With a combination of computer-aided manufacturing and hand finishing, it is now possible to have at your disposal all of the benefits of this excellent stool.

It’s portable, assembles and disassembles easily, and comes in its own felt carrying case to protect it from humidity and temperature changes, as well as bumps and scrapes. The case also allows for ease of transportation; together they are lightweight and quite compact. And the case doubles as a set cushion!

The Kneeling Stool comes in three heights, Small, Medium, and Large in order to accommodate your height and the size and flexibility of your legs.

They are made of solid hardwood and come in two natural finishes – light and dark. (See pictures at right.) Note: Due the variations in wood, these pictures are just examples. Each stool is unique.

The Kneeling Stool was designed to maintain the natural “S” curve of the spine. By  distributing your weight uniformly over your knees and the seat, the bench naturally creates a healthy, straight posture, relieving the pressure on the low back. The stool is extremely comfortable, allowing you to relax completely. The instep will quickly become accustomed to the position, allowing you to sit for long periods of time, effortlessly.

Aside from meditation, it is also great for studying, having tea, chatting, working on the computer or in the garden or any other place you sit.

Because it’s so portable, compact and easy to use, this stool allows you to take it anywhere and continue your meditation practice no matter where you happen to be.

How does this stool help?

By naturally straightening the spine and strengthening the back muscles.

The pelvis is positioned at an optimum angle, allowing the hips to drop away from the low back, leaving a long and straight spine and aligning the back, neck and shoulders. This posture offers a natural sitting position with freedom of movement. From this position, you can also do many neck, chest, shoulder, arm and waist exercises. Sound – like mantra – results easily, too, since there is no compression on the lower abdomen and there is total freedom throughout the thorax.
